IWLCA Announces 2010 Academic Squad
IWLCA Names Academic Squads and Merit Squads in Division I
Three schools designated as merit squads; 50 other schools also honored
The IWLCA has recognized three schools as earning Merit Squad status while 50 other institutions earned Academic Squad honors for the 2010 season. Institutions were named Merit Squads by virtue of having one of the top three team GPAs for the season; every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors. Hofstra University topped all schools in Division I for the 2010 season with a 3.492 GPA, while Stanford University (3.477) just edged Duke (3.471) to rank second.
Of the 53 institutions, ten participated in the NCAA Championships, including runner-up Northwestern University and semifinalist Syracuse University.

Three schools designated as merit squads; seven other schools also honored
The IWLCA has recognized three schools as earning Merit Squad status while seven other earned Academic Squad honors for the 2010 season. Institutions were named Merit Squads by virtue of having one of the top three team GPAs for the season; every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors. Lake Erie College led all institutions with a 3.400 GPA. Philadelphia University ranked second with a 3.300 GPA, while Dowling College also earned Merit status with a 3.240 GPA.

The IWLCA has recognized three schools as earning Merit Squad status while 61 other earned Academic Squad honors for the 2010 season. Institutions were named Merit Squads by virtue of having one of the top three team GPAs for the season; every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors. Bates College ranked first with a 3.470 GPA, just edging Washington & Lee University, which posted a 3.458 GPA, and Vassar College, which had a 3.410.
Of the 64 institutions, 13 participated in the NCAA Championships, including NCAA runner-up Hamilton College and semifinalists Gettysburg College and Franklin & Marshall College.
